How much does a windscreen replacement cost?
We don’t publish a price list, because the right price depends on your vehicle and its glass. Here’s what affects it, and how to get an accurate quote.
The cost of a windscreen replacement depends mainly on your vehicle and the glass it needs – including any features built into the screen. A chip repair costs far less than a replacement. South Wales Windscreens quotes every job individually for free: send us your registration and a photo, and we’ll give you a price. There’s no call-out charge.
What affects the price
- Your vehicle. The make, model and year decide which windscreen fits, and some screens cost much more to buy than others. That’s why we ask for your registration.
- Features built into the glass. Many modern windscreens carry rain and light sensors, a heating element or a camera bracket. The replacement must match, so these change the price of the glass.
- Repair or replacement. Chips up to the size of a £1 coin can usually be repaired, which is far cheaper than a new windscreen. Anything larger, or a chip that has spread into a crack, needs a replacement.
- Which glass. Windscreens, side windows and rear screens are priced differently. Side and rear glass is toughened and can’t be repaired, so it’s always a replacement.
- Insurance or paying yourself. If you have glass cover, we can bill some insurers directly. Your excess depends on your own policy, so check your documents or ask your insurer. If you’re paying yourself, we take all major payment methods, including Payment Assist.
What doesn’t add to the price
- Where you are. There’s no call-out charge and no extra travel charge anywhere in our coverage area.
- Coming to you. We’re fully mobile, so the quote includes coming to your home or workplace.
- The guarantee. All our workmanship is covered by our 12-month guarantee.
Comparing quotes
When you compare prices, check that each quote is for glass with the same features as your current windscreen, and ask whether there’s a call-out or travel charge.
How to get an accurate quote
Send us your registration, where the damage is (windscreen, which side window or the rear screen), a photo if you can – with a £1 coin next to a chip for scale – and the postcode where the car will be. WhatsApp is the quickest way, or use the quote form.

Questions about price
Why don’t you publish a price list?
Because the price depends on your vehicle and the glass it needs, a single figure would be wrong for most people. We give a free quote for each job instead – send us your registration and a photo on WhatsApp.
Is there a call-out charge on top of the price?
No. There’s no call-out charge and no extra travel charge anywhere in our coverage area.
How much will my excess be?
Your excess depends on your own policy, so check your documents or ask your insurer. We can’t tell you your excess, but we can check whether we can bill your insurer directly.
Is a chip repair cheaper than a new windscreen?
Yes. A chip repair is far cheaper than a replacement, which is why we always check whether a repair will do first. Chips up to the size of a £1 coin can usually be repaired.
