Do you need a new windscreen, or just a repair?

We always check whether a repair will do first, because it’s quicker and cheaper.

• Chips up to the size of a £1 coin can usually be repaired. See chip repair in Cardiff.
• Anything larger, or a crack that has spread, means a replacement.
• Damage right in front of the driver is treated strictly at MOT. In the 290mm-wide area centred on the steering wheel (Zone A), damage over 10mm can fail. Elsewhere in the area the wipers sweep, the limit is 40mm. Source: GOV.UK MOT inspection manual, section 3.

What happens on the day

1. Send us the details. Registration, where the damage is, a photo if you can, and where the car will be.
2. We quote. We use your registration to make sure the new glass matches your car’s specification.
3. We arrive at the agreed time and place, protect the bodywork and interior, and remove the damaged screen.
4. We fit the new windscreen with fresh adhesive and refit trims and wipers. Fitting usually takes under an hour.
5. You drive away about an hour after fitting, once the adhesive has set.

Parking in Cardiff: what we need

Many Cardiff cars live on the street in Roath, Canton, Cathays, Grangetown, Splott and Adamsdown, and that’s fine. For a replacement we need enough room to open the front doors and work round the windscreen. If you’re at work in the city centre, Cardiff Bay or a business park, tell us where the car is parked and check we’re allowed to work on it there.

If your policy includes glass cover, you may be able to claim. We can bill some insurers directly, though not all.
